A story about feeling sleepy, dreaming, and building confidence
Samantha the Sleepy Girl by Debbie Happy Cohen
Cover Art by Vito Acosta
Once upon a time, in a neighborhood very close to where you are right now, there lived a little girl named Samantha, who was very, very sleepy.
She was so-o-o-o tired, but she did not want to go
A silver moon was hanging up in the sky, and little Samantha wanted to stay up and stare at it, and count the stars, and listen for owls and coyotes and other nighttime creatures.
But... she... just... couldn't... stay... awake!
Feeling sleepy, Samantha closed her eyes…
And then popped them open again!
A few minutes later, her eyes grew very heavy and she let them close, because-… well, because she just couldn't help it!
Like I said, she was so-o-o-o sleepy!
But she tried once more to stay awake!
She opened her eyes…
And then they closed just as quickly!
And in two seconds, she fell fast asleep . . . with a deep, sleepy, breath-y snore.
And what happened next, most anyone can guess . . .
Samantha began to dream!
